A Haunting Good Time, Charlestown State Park

October 23 (Friday) 10:00 AM – Cemetery Hike: Meet at the trail’s 3 and 4 parking lot for this easy, 2-mile ‘round trip hike to one of the parks pioneer cemeteries. 2:00 PM – Rose Island Guided Tour: See above Description 5:00 PM – Tie Dye T-Shirts: Call 812 256-5600 today and reserve your space to create your own Tie-Dyed Charlestown State Park T-Shirt. Cost is $20 per shirt, spaces are limited. 8:00 PM – A Tale of Murder on Trail 3: Meet at the Trail’s 3 and 4 parking lot for this short hike to an old homesite and hear a true story of murder! 10:00 AM – Rose Island Guided Tour: Meet at the trail’s 3 and 4 parking lot for this guided, 2-hour tour of Rose Island. Hikers are advised to arrive 10 minutes prior to start time to begin hiking down the hill to Rose Island. Transportation provided down and back up the steep hill for those in need. October 24 (Saturday) 4:00 pm Campsite Decorating Contest Entry Deadline: Sign up at the Campground Gatehouse. Be sure to walk around the campground to see all the spooky sites. 4:00 pm All Motor Traffic in and out of the Campground Cut off NO VEHICLES ALLOWED in or out of the campground from 4:00 pm to 7:30 pm. Plan Ahead! 5:00- 7:00 pm Campground Trick or Treating: Enjoy trick or treating around the campsites. 7:00 pm Costume Contest: Near campsite 17 Campsite Decorating Contest Awards: Winners will be announced following costume contest. Contestants send a representative from your site to site 54 for the awards. 9:00 pm Full Moon Hike Trail 2: Note special 9:00pm start time for this month’s Full Moon Hike on trail 2, a 1.5-mile trail. Good shoes, a hiking pole and a red flashlight are recommended.
