“A Day in the Northwest” Interactive Community Adventure

The Cherokee Strip Regional Heritage Center invites families, friends, coworkers, and community members to experience northwest Oklahoma in a whole new way during “A Day in the Northwest,” a family-friendly interactive adventure taking place Saturday, September 5, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Blending local history with teamwork, competition, and hands-on fun, “A Day in the Northwest” will send teams on an Amazing Race-inspired journey across the Heritage Center grounds. Participants will travel from stop to stop, completing unique challenges that celebrate the past, present, and future of northwest Oklahoma. The adventure begins with biscuits and gravy with the cowboys, giving participants a chance to fuel up before hitting the trail. Throughout the morning, teams will encounter activities and challenges at locations across the Heritage Center as they compete for awards and raffle prizes. A roaming “deputy” will add another layer of frontier fun by issuing playful citations throughout the event. Participants who find themselves on the wrong side of the law may be hauled off to the frontier jail, where teammates can “bail” them out with a donation benefiting the Cherokee Strip Regional Heritage Center. Registration Open for Teams and Individuals Because “A Day in the Northwest” is designed around teamwork, participants are encouraged to gather their family, friends, or coworkers and take on the adventure together. Team registration is $100 for teams of up to 4 participants. Those who want to participate but do not have a team may register individually for $30. Individual registrants will be matched with other participants to form a team, since the activities are designed to be completed as a group rather than individually.
