About this event

Democracy is more than a system of government; it depends on the choices and responsibilities of the people who participate in it. From voting and jury duty to public service, community engagement, and civil discourse, what do we owe one another as citizens? This program explores the responsibilities that come with living in a democracy and the ways everyday civic participation shapes our communities. It also considers how we can disagree across our differences while maintaining the mutual respect and shared commitment that democratic life requires. About The Speakers: Hannah McCarthy and Nick Capodice are the hosts and producers of Civics 101, New Hampshire Public Radio’s award-winning podcast about American government and democracy. Through engaging conversations, storytelling, and interviews with experts, they make complex questions about government, citizenship, and civic life accessible to a broad audience. Their work explores not only how American democracy works, but also how people participate in, and shape it.
