About this event
At the beginning of all things, God spoke, and a family tree sprouted in the dust. Adam and Eve were the first branches, but soon this beautiful tree came to include Noah, Abraham, Jesse, King David, and eventually Jesus… Branch retells the journey from sin to salvation through stirring poetry and a wonderfully accessible metaphor of trees, gardens, and plants. Luminous art from Michelle Carlos overflows with striking Old and New Testament imagery, which is explained further in back matter notes from the author and illustrator. Whether readers are hearing this story for the first–or hundredth–time, they’ll find something new to discover on this expansive journey from Genesis to Revelation. Branch is an unforgettable book to share during all seasons, especially around Christmas and Easter. Photo Credit – Courtney Wilson Rebecca Janni (pronounced Yawn-nee) goes by Rebecca on paper, Becky in voice and sign language (sign name: B handshape, tap opposite shoulder), and “Mom” to six adult and young adult children. She lives in Stillwater, MN with her husband James, their youngest daughter Elizabeth, and their two dogs Ollie and Louie. Young Becky learned early that biking was the best way to get around the neighborhood and reading was the best way to get around the world. On a bus ride home from school, she confided to a friend that she was working on a novel about a girl and her horse. She never finished the novel, but a horse of a different hoof shows up in her Every Cowgirl series. Her newest book, Branch: A Resurrection Story, is her “heart on paper,” exploring the connection between her faith and writing. For as long as she can remember, her most profound moments of prayer and worship have happened with a blank sheet of paper and a pen. Whether she is journaling, writing for ministry, or creating a work of fiction, writing feeds her faith and faith enriches her writing. Rebecca holds a BA in English and French from Iowa State University and an MAT in English…
