Celebrate the the full Buck Moon. The Buck Moon gets its name from when the new antlers of buck deer push out from their foreheads in coatings of velvety fur in July Meet at 7:38 pm at the Thomas Creek Trailhead parking lot. We will hike along the N Timberline Dr dirt road heading north from the Thomas Creek Trailhead for about 2 miles or until the moon rises and return the same route. Sunset will be at 8:14 pm, and the moon rises at 8:38 pm. Flashlights are always a good idea as well as plenty of water; good hiking boots and windbreaker. 4 miles, and elevation gain is 400 ft mostly on the way back. Moderate difficulty. Dogs welcome. Since this is a Sierra Club hike, we ask you to sign our liability waiver before the hike and donate $1 to help cover First Aid Training for all our leaders.
