Holy Ghost Creek Trail - Santa Fe

With the heat really picking up in Albuquerque, we'll be heading toward Santa Fe for some cooler weather. This time we'll be checking out Holy Ghost Creek Trail, a beautiful trail in the Santa Fe National Forest that follows a mountain creek through the trees. Expect cooler temperatures, plenty of shade, and some amazing scenery. This is a 7.6-mile moderate out-and-back hike with over 1,700 feet of elevation gain, so please keep that in mind before signing up. There are rocky sections, roots, stream crossings, and a steady climb throughout the hike. Hiking boots and hiking poles are strongly recommended. I may not make it all the way to the top myself, and that's okay. Since this is an out-and-back trail, if some of us decide not to finish the entire hike, we'll find a good turnaround spot and wait while the faster group continues on and then comes back down. No one will be left behind. As always, bring plenty of water, snacks, and anything else you need for a longer day on the trail. Dogs are welcome but must remain on a leash. Let's escape the heat and spend a day in the mountains. See you on the trails!
